About Us

We launched our first beer in the autumn of 2015. We started off brewing in a  shared co-operative brewery in Bermondsey, and moved to our own premises in Edmonton, North London in late summer 2016.

Beerblefish Brewing is committed to keeping its beers vegan. It is not necessary to include isinglass or other animal products in our beers - these additives do not add anything to the taste of the beer and simply stop some people from being able to enjoy it.

We are also conscious of the impact of brewing on our environment and we are always looking for ways to reuse our by-products, including our spent grain and our used hops. We're always open to new ideas so please get in touch with any
suggestions.

History

2015
After many years brewing in kitchens and basements all across the UK, positive feedback led to the decision to ramp it up and start brewing professionally.  We founded The Beerblefish Brewing Company Limited in August 2015.

We spent the rest of the year further developing our recipes and finally went beyond the R&D phase into the commercial world of brewing in the autumn. Our first batch was kegged on the 24th October, and we enjoyed seeing our roundel on the tap in our local pub.

2016
This year is proving to be a momentous one for Beerblefish!  After many months of searching, we found our own home in Edmonton, North London and moved in on 25 April.  Earlier in the year, we also found our own 5BBL brewing kit, which is currently being stored for us in a barn in Suffolk.

Our new premises are essentially just an industrial box which took some time to convert so that it was fit for purpose.  A floor with proper drainage was laid, we built an internal room to keep our fermenters cool and we made a long list of other changes.

Whilst our own brewery was coming together, we continued cuckoo-brewing (brewing on someone else equipment) small batches in Bermondsey.  This allowed us to supply a variety of pubs, bars and corporate customers with casks, key-kegs and bottles.  After much experimentation, we settled on a few staples for our range and brewed a several different versions of them to get everything perfect for when we start in the new place!

Having completed the works, we were able to ship and install the kit.

2017
The year started with us brewing 100% at our base in Edmonton, North London.  Whilst we have the big kit installed, our pilot plant enabled us to experiment with one-off brews and festival specials - our Imperial Mild was the fastest selling beer at the Bexley Beer Festival!  The brew kit continues to be added to and updated - which is of course a never ending process!

We have done a couple of festivals so far with more to come.  Thanks to CAMRA, our beer was on sale in and around the Peak District.
